Prepared by: Karleigh Neufeld

Ten Little Ideas of things to do

  • In any order – just pick which things seem to work on Sunday.
You may do just a couple of things, or maybe you will do them all!

  1. Free time

  2. DVD of Job Story ( 2 min)

Play DVD of story of Job; stop at the pause before the song begins. This is a YouTube link:

  3. Story Time

Read the story recap of Job…it is a photocopied sheet of paper…there are visuals to hold up as you recap. Point to the pictures and retell. (find pictures off the internet and use these)

  4. Game:

Question game where you show them an action card and  when the teacher asks “Is this a good day or a bad day?  The kids jump up when it is a good day.. and sit down when it is a bad day…Hold up pictures of  snowy day… good , ( kids jump up) , A child sick in bed…( the kids sit down), jumping rope and playing ( good)  Birthday ( good) , Hurt leg ( bad), broken bike( bad)  And at each card the teacher reinforces, Jesus is with us on good days…or Jesus is with on bad days… he is ALWAYS WITH US!

  5. Simple Music

    Jesus Loves Me

  6. Snacks :

Red Jello Jigglers cut into hearts with a cookie cutter.

  7. Bible memory:

“Love God with all your heart ” Luke 10:27

There will be 5 printed Pages. Put the Sheets on the carpet in order with tape to hold them down.  Have the kids walk along each picture saying each word and pointing to the picture: Have the older ones try it.. the younger ones might just watch or listen. I will have the sheets attached to the lesson…

Love: A heart

God: a picture of Jesus

With all: arms streached out really wide

Your : hands pointing out

Heart : Another big heart

8. Simple Craft

Job Face Puppet * you can find this described, with pictures on the internet

You will have

  • Paper lunch bags with a happy face on one side and a sad face on the other
  • Crayons
  • Red sores (red circle stickers)
  • Red hearts (either punched out to glue on, or red stickers to stick)
  • Elastic bands
  • Crumpled newspaper
  • Chopstick or stick or toilet paper tube

Have the kids colour the faces… sad and happy…. and then on the side with sad put red spot stickers all over Jobs face.   Talk about how much God loves us… When we are happy and when we are sad…just like Job… and then put the hearts all over both sides…. ( representing God’s love).

Then stuff the bag with crumples newspaper and attach it to the stick with the elastic band.

9. Prayer

Pray:  God, you are love. Thank you Jesus for loving us and taking care of us when we are happy or sad, sick or well. Please help us to love you with all our heart.  Amen.

10. Coloring Pages

A picture of Job with all the children that God blessed him with…

Teachers, I am asking that at the end of every lesson you have all the children sit quietly while you pray over them.  You do not have to use these words below…but they are from the bible and you could certainly add them to whatever you pray. Let us not miss the opportunity to impart a spiritual blessing on each child.

“I pray this blessing over each one of you.

Each of you is precious in God’s sight.

God sees you every minute of every day and he loves you.

I pray that you will come to know and love Jesus with all your heart for all your days.

May the Lord bless you and protect you.

May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.

May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.
